4 UGC Rules I Give Every Client (After Reviewing Hundreds of Videos)
UGC that converts rarely comes down to production value. Build it for paid (it carries over to organic, not the reverse), obsess over the first 3–6 seconds, stick to one topic per video, and let performance data shape the next one.
I've reviewed hundreds of UGC videos across my clients.
UGC isn't plug-and-play. The strategy behind the video matters as much as the video itself.
The ones that convert almost never come down to production value. They come down to the details most people skip.
Here are 4 tips that actually move the needle:

1. UGC for paid and UGC for organic are two different videos
If you optimize a video for organic, it won't perform on paid. But the reverse works: UGC built for paid can carry over to organic. So if you're only going to make one, build it for paid.

2. The little details are the whole game, especially the first 3–6 seconds
When I review a video, I'm looking at the actual hook, the copy overlay, the speaking pace, how the product is shown. It can feel like nickel-and-diming. It isn't. Every one of those decisions is the difference between a scroll and a sale. Don't give up on the small stuff.

3. One. Topic. Per. Video.
Be specific. Are you addressing a problem? Are you calling out a feature? Pick one. A video that tries to say everything says nothing.

4. Let the data drive the next one
The more UGC you put out, the more you learn. Is one topic converting better than the rest? Is a video pulling negative comments? Is there an angle you haven't tried yet? Collect all of it and let it shape what you make next.
